World Steel Applies Bim Technology In Sun-Tech Project Management And Implementation

SUN-TECH PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Sun-Tech mechanical components factory project located at Lot B1-E, Becamex Industrial Park, Minh Thanh, Chon Thanh, Binh Phuoc is implemented by WorldSteel Group. In this project, World Steel plays the role of D&B contractor (Design & Build): designing, manufacturing and constructing the entire project, including the following items: manufacturing plant, office building, parking area and other auxiliary works.

WorldSteel Group’s Design & Build solution is especially outstanding: Not simply an industrial construction EPC contractor, World Steel has a factory manufacturing steel structures and industrial pre-engineered steel buildings that operates professionally according to American standards in Long An with many years of experience.

Basic information about the project:

  • Project name: SUN-TECH Mechanical Components Company Limited Factory
  • Investor: SUN-TECH Mechanical Components Company Limited
  • Area: 15,360m²
  • Field of activity: The company specializes in manufacturing batteries and accumulators; manufacturing and processing components, molds and battery-related equipment.

Overview of Sun-tech project through BIM model

I. THE ROLE OF BIM IN THE SUN-TECH PROJECT

1. Design phase:

  • BIM application creates a vivid 3D model of the project. This model allows stakeholders to better see and understand the structure and construction elements of the project before actual construction begins.
  • BIM applications integrate information from different stakeholders, including architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors and investors, facilitating effective collaboration and information exchange, helping to improve the design process.
  • Apply BIM to simulate and analyze factors such as lighting, airflow, energy efficiency and safety. This helps optimize designs and detect and fix potential problems before actual implementation.

2. Construction phase:

  • BIM provides a linked and organized database for construction information, including data on materials, implementation progress, effective resource management and administration in construction engineering activities, in sync with the design process and client requirements. This helps project managers easily track progress, resources and related documents, facilitating effective project management.
  • BIM also allows simulation of construction implementation processes, helping to forecast and manage potential future risks. These simulations can help identify potential conflicts and enhance understanding of the construction process before actual work begins.

3. Project management and operations phase:

  • BIM provides a continuous and updated source of information for the project throughout its operation. This information includes information about the structure, mechanical and electrical systems, maintenance and repair history. This helps project managers and maintenance staff easily access the information needed to maintain and operate the project effectively.
  • BIM also has the ability to integrate with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Digital Asset Management systems, making asset management easy and time-saving.
  • Not just in design, BIM creates a perfect working process that is strictly managed, transparent and public. Thereby limiting unexpected events, minimizing errors and delays in decisions. Thus, applying BIM in project management is using the BIM process to manage progress, data and value of construction projects in general.

II. HIGHLIGHTS OF BIM IN SUN-TECH PROJECT

During the design, construction and management process of the Sun-Tech project, World Steel has applied the BIM model to project management and implementation, including: Tekla steel structure model produced at the factory, MEP structure – architecture – infrastructure model using Revit to serve construction at the construction site.

Not only that, in this project, World Steel also applied the BIM model to create a common data environment on the Dalux platform, combining all disciplines. By visualizing the model, detect and warn of conflicts in design before implementing construction and create a common data platform to exchange information online between parties: Construction site (Construction Steering Committee) – Company office (Construction management, Design, BIM,…) – Manufacturing factory in Long An.

World Steel’s application of BIM technology to Sun-Tech project management and implementation has contributed to bringing many significant benefits to both contractors and investors, helping to improve the efficiency of the project management process, increasing enhance design efficiency, optimize construction processes and enhance interaction between parties, minimizing risks and ensuring project success.
